GATE 2012 Notification - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country jointly by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. Admission to post graduate programmes with MHRD and some other government scholarship/assistantship at engineering colleges/institutes in the country are open to those who qualify through GATE.

The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education is conducting admission to the Candidates into various Engineering and Pharmacy Courses who passed Intermediate or its Equivalent and qualified in EAMCET (Engineering Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test). | |
II | FUTURE PROSPECTS |
Candidates after acquiring degree have opportunity to join in various industries and can also acquire higher qualifications by joining various Post-graduate courses in engineering and technology directly. | |
III | RATIONALE OF WEB COUNSELING |
The process of inviting the qualified candidates of EAMCET and allotting a seat as per their option is known as Counseling. Till last year candidate used to attend in any one of the 8 Counseling Centres for securing a seat in a college. In this process, candidates have to travel all the way to report at any one of the counseling centres more than once. But in the Web Counseling candidates can select a college and a Course from a nearest Internet Center. | |
IV | WHAT IS WEB COUNSELING |
For the Convenience of the Candidates from the academic year 2009-10, government have decided to adopt a total web based counseling procedure where candidate can exercise options. that is can select a college and course intend to study through internet centre or internet facility available at their residence and where such facility is not available candidate can approach any one of the help line centres nearer to them. | |
V | STAGES OF WEB COUNSELING |
1. Issue of Notification:The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education will issue a notification during June-July in news papers indicating the dates and ranks of the candidates to be attended for Registration, Verification of Certificates and Schedule for Exercising options and also notify the list of Help-line Centres. Candidates who fail to report for Certificates verification will not be considered for allotment of seats in any of the colleges. | |
2. Certificate Verification:Candidates should produce the follwoing certificates- Hall ticket of EAMCET - Rank Card of EAMCET - SSC/ Intermediate or Equivalent marks memo - Study/Bonafide Certificate from III to X Class and Inetermdiate (10+2) - Caste Certificate of SC/ST/BC/Minorities (if applicable) - Income Certificate issued by MRO issued after 01.01.2011 also be submitted (in case the candidate - desires to claim fee exemption). - PH/NCC/CAP/Sports and Games Certificates (if applicable) - Transfer Certificate. - Candidates will be issued a receipt of Certificates at Help-line Centres after Verification. | |
3. Exercising Options::After Certificate Verification in Help-line Centres, a Blank Option Form, List of colleges, courses and their Codes will be given to all the Candidates. Based on the codes, Candidates have to write College and Course code for which they intend to join and it is advised to prepare such lists in consultation with their parents and friends. From out of that list Candidate has to prioritize and write Priority Number in the Blank Option Form which is essential to enter the options on the web. Candidates can exercise any number of options and can take print out if they desire. Help-Line Centres shall furnish the detailed procedure of Exercising Options. | |
4. Modification of Options and Freezing:Candidate can change his/her options any number of times during the allotted time. After allotted time for option entry, If the Candidate is not satisfied with the Options exercised, he/she can modify the options on the dates notified by the authority and this is final opportunity for exercising options. | |
5. Final Allotments of Seats:Final Allotments will be placed on the Web and the Candidates have to down load the allotment order. | |
6. Payment of Seats & Reporting at College:Candidates with downloaded allotment order have to remit the fee in one of the designated banks and obtain a receipt. Candidate with allotment order and fee receipts have to report at the respective colleges where the seat is allotted within the dates mentioned. If Candidate fails to pay the fee and report on the dates stipulated the allotment stands cancelled and candidate has no claim further on the allotment. |

1.1 A Common Entrance Test, designated as Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test - 2011 (EAMCET - 2011) of Andhra
Pradesh will be conducted (as per G.O.Ms.No. 16 Edn., (EC) Department Dt:25/2/2004 and its amendments) by Jawaharlal Nehru
Technological University Hyderabad for entry into the first year of following professional courses offered for the academic year 2011-2012 in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
a) B.E./B.Tech. Courses
b) B.V.Sc. and A.H./B.Sc.(Ag) / B.Sc.(Hort) / B.F.Sc. / B.Tech.(FS&T) / B.Sc.(CA&BM) Courses
c) MBBS / BDS / BAMS / BHMS / BNYS Courses
d) B.Pharm. / B.Tech. (Bio-Technology) and Pharm-D (Doctor of Pharmacy) Courses.
2. Eligibility
2.1 The minimum qualification to appear for EAMCET-2011 is
a. A pass in the Intermediate Examination or appearance at 2nd year Intermediate Examiniation (10+2 Pattern) conducted by the A.P.
Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), with approapriate optional subjects or its equivalent thereto recognized by BIE, AP.
b.A pass at Diploma examination or appearance at the final year Diploma Examination in Engineering conducted by the State Board of
Technical Education and Training, A.P. or its equivalent thereto. Diploma candidates are eligible to apply for B.E. / B.Tech. /
B.Pharm. Courses only. Diploma in pharmacy are eligible to apply for Pharm-D Course.
2.2 In case of such students who appear for the entrance Test, Pending result of their qualifying examination, their entry shall be
subject to their securing a pass in the said qualifying examination.
2.3 Candidates should be of Indian Nationality or Persons of India Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders.
2.4 Candidates should belong to the State of Andhra Pradesh as defined in the A.P. Educational Institutions (regulations for admission)
order 1947 and its amemdments (vide G.O.P.No. 646 Dt: 10-7-79 of Education (W) Department).
3. Detailed information regarding eligibility, age, and syllabi etc., is given in the "Instruction Booklet", supplied along with the application form.
4. Requisition for the Application form:
4.1 Candidates with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as optional subjects in their Intermediate or its equivalent course should submit "E" category applications for Engineering B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Tech. (Ag. Engg.) / B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) / B.Tech. (FST) / B.Sc. (CA&BM) (MPC) / B.Pharm (MPC) / Pharm-D (MPC) Courses.
4.2 Candidates with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects in their Intermediate or its equivalent course should submit "AM" Category application for B.Sc. (Ag.) / B.Sc. (Hort.) / B.V.Sc. & AH / B.F.Sc. / B.Tech. (FST) / B.Sc. (CA&BM) / MBBS / BDS / BAMS / BHMS / BNYS / B.Pharm. / B.Tech. (Bio-Technology) (Bi.P.C) / Pharm-D (Bi.P.C.) Courses. For B.Tech. (Bio-Technology (Bi.P.C), candidates shall pass / appear for Bridge Course exam in Mathematics conducted by BIE, A.P. as per G.O. 17 Dt. 02-02-2008.
4.3 Eligible candidates who intend to seek admission to both the courses in 4.1 and 4.2 have to submit "E" and "AM" category
applications.

5. As per G.O. MS. No. 165 dated 06-09-2007 and G.O.Ms.No.8 (Amendment to the G.O.Ms.No.16) Higher Education Department, dated 27-01-2009, the candidates who have secured qualifying marks in EAMCET and candidates belonging to the cattegory of Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe, for whom qualifying marks have not been prescribed, shal be assigned ranking in the order of emrit on the basis of combined score obtained by giving 75% weightage to the marks secured in EAMCET and 25% weightage to the marks secured in the relevant group subjects namely Mathematics or Biology, Physics, Chemistry of the qualifying examination.
6. However as per G.O.Ms.No. 181 dated 21-05-2008 of Health Medical and Family Welfare (E1) Department for admission into MBBS / BDS courses on the basis of Competitive entrance examination, a candidate for admission to those courses must have obtained not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together both at qualifying and EAMCET examination. In respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC must have obtained not less than 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together both and qualifying and EAMCET examination.
As per the Gazette of India: Extraordinary under Part-III Rule No. 7(2) for admission into B.V.Sc. & AH Courses on the basis of competitive entrance examination, a candidate under General Category for admission to this course must have obtained 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belongs to the Scheduled Caste / the Scheduled Tribe or other special category of student as specified by the Government from time to time, marks required for admission shall be 10% less than that prescribed for general category.
7. As per the latest AICTE approval process Hand Book 2011-12 eligibility criteria for admission into Engineering and Pharmacy courses
is 50% marks in group subjecs taken together in the qualifying examination (45% for reserved categories). However, candidates shall
fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down in the relevant GOs at the time of admission.
8. How to submit Filled in Application Form:
EAMCET - 2011 appliation may be submitted online or offline. For details refer to item VIII of "Instruction Booklet" (Available on www.apeamcet.org) for Engineering (E) and Agriculture & Medicine (AM) Categories of applications.

12. The late fee and only submission application fee must e in the form of Demand Draft on any nationalized bank payable at Hyderabad, in favor of Secretary, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education.

14. In their own interest, cadidates are advised to submit the application online or submit the filled in applications to be concerned regional co-ordinators in person only, or send it to the convener EAMCET-2011 by Regd. post well in advance of the last date prescribed for submission of application without late fee to avoid delays. Convener shall not be responsible for any postal delay or loss of application during transit.

A Common Entrance Test, designated as Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test - of Andhra Pradesh will be conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad for entry into the first year of following professional courses offered for the academic year 2012-2013 in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
a) B.E./B.Tech. Coursesb) B.V.Sc. and A.H./B.Sc.(Ag) / B.Sc.(Hort) / B.F.Sc. / B.Tech.(FS&T) / B.Sc.(CA&BM) Courses
c) MBBS (Subject to the Government Decision) / BDS / BAMS / BHMS / BNYS Courses
d) B.Pharm. / B.Tech. (Bio-Technology) and Pharm-D (Doctor of Pharmacy) Courses.
Eligibility
The minimum qualification to appear for EAMCET is
a. A pass in the Intermediate Examination or appearance at 2nd year Intermediate Examiniation (10+2 Pattern) conducted by the A.P. Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), with approapriate optional subjects or its equivalent thereto recognized by BIE, AP.
b.A pass at Diploma examination or appearance at the final year Diploma Examination in Engineering conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, A.P. or its equivalent thereto. Diploma candidates are eligible to apply for B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Pharm. Courses only. Diploma in pharmacy are eligible to apply for Pharm-D Course.
In case of such students who appear for the entrance Test, Pending result of their qualifying examination, their entry shall be subject to their securing a pass in the said qualifying examination.
Candidates should be of Indian Nationality or Persons of India Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders.
Candidates should belong to the State of Andhra Pradesh as defined in the A.P. Educational Institutions (regulations for admission) order 1947 and its amemdments (vide G.O.P.No. 646 Dt: 10-7-79 of Education (W) Department).

Requisition for the Application form:
Candidates with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as optional subjects in their Intermediate or its equivalent course should submit "E" category applications for Engineering B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Tech. (Ag. Engg.) / B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) / B.Tech. (FST) / B.Sc. (CA&BM) (MPC) / B.Pharm (MPC) / Pharm-D (MPC) Courses.
Candidates with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects in their Intermediate or its equivalent course should submit "AM" Category application for B.Sc. (Ag.) / B.Sc. (Hort.) / B.V.Sc. & AH / B.F.Sc. / B.Tech. (FST) / B.Sc. (CA&BM) / MBBS / BDS / BAMS / BHMS / BNYS / B.Pharm. / B.Tech. (Bio-Technology) (Bi.P.C) / Pharm-D (Bi.P.C.) Courses. For B.Tech. (Bio-Technology (Bi.P.C), candidates shall pass / appear for Bridge Course exam in Mathematics conducted by BIE, A.P. as per G.O. 17 Dt. 02-02-2008.
Eligible candidates who intend to seek admission to both the courses in 4.1 and 4.2 have to submit "E" and "AM" category applications.

As per G.O. MS. No. 165 dated 06-09-2007 and G.O.Ms.No.8 (Amendment to the G.O.Ms.No.16) Higher Education Department, dated 27-01-2009, the candidates who have secured qualifying marks in EAMCET and candidates belonging to the cattegory of Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe, for whom qualifying marks have not been prescribed, shal be assigned ranking in the order of emrit on the basis of combined score obtained by giving 75% weightage to the marks secured in EAMCET and 25% weightage to the marks secured in the relevant group subjects namely Mathematics or Biology, Physics, Chemistry of the qualifying examination.
However as per G.O.Ms.No. 181 dated 21-05-2008 of Health Medical and Family Welfare (E1) Department for admission into MBBS / BDS courses on the basis of Competitive entrance examination, a candidate for admission to those courses must have obtained not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together both at qualifying and EAMCET examination. In respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC must have obtained not less than 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together both and qualifying and EAMCET examination.
As per the Gazette of India: Extraordinary under Part-III Rule No. 7(2) for admission into B.V.Sc. & AH Courses on the basis of competitive entrance examination, a candidate under General Category for admission to this course must have obtained 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belongs to the Scheduled Caste / the Scheduled Tribe or other special category of student as specified by the Government from time to time, marks required for admission shall be 10% less than that prescribed for general category.
As per the latest AICTE approval process Hand Book 2011-12 eligibility criteria for admission into Engineering and Pharmacy courses is 50% marks in group subjecs taken together in the qualifying examination (45% for reserved categories). However, candidates shall fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down in the relevant GOs at the time of admission.
